How I Earn More Than P50k Monthly as a Work-From-Home Mom

As a mother, it’s tough to balance pursuing your career and taking care of your family at the same time. Most women end up choosing only one, which leaves them feeling unfulfilled in other aspects of their life. But as a work-from-home mom, I am finally free to choose both.

Thanks to modern technology, the traditional stay-at-home wife is slowly becoming a thing in the past. The internet has opened up a lot of opportunities especially for working moms like you and me.

Now, you can finally earn money at the comforts of your home while taking care of your family at the same time. You don’t need to go to the office to work! All you need is an internet connection, and thousands of home-based jobs are just one click away.

How my work-from-home journey started

I’m a work-from-home mom earning more than P50,000 monthly just by working online. I have two jobs with flexible hours, and I make extra money by taking in clients from time to time. In my regular jobs, I provide services as an SEO editor and a web content writer.

When I started last 2018, I was only making less than P20,000 per month as a writer. It took me more than a year and countless sleepless nights to improve my skills and expertise and eventually charge higher.

Today, I make more money as a home-based freelancer than I did when I was working in regular office jobs. But aside from financial benefits, my home-based career also allows me to take care of my 1-year-old baby.

Working remotely also helped me to explore my potential as an individual. Since I’m not tied to limited options in jobs, I am free to do what I really love. And by raking in bucks, it also helps me secure my kid’s future.

All of this while working from home. Sounds too good to be true, right? Luckily for you, you can also achieve this! The journey is not easy, but if you persevere and stay on course, you will surely reap the rewards.

Benefits of working from home

1. No traffic, no commute needed

No need to endure the slow-moving traffic, but you might need to watch out for slow internet connection.

2. Flexible work hours

If you find 9-5 jobs exhausting, then home-based jobs are for you! Many clients offer a flexible work schedule.

3. More family time

As a work-from-home mom, having a home-based career gives you the opportunity to spend more time with your family, especially your kids.

4. Potential to earn more

Unlike most office jobs, which only offer a fixed rate, you can earn more in freelancing by taking on more clients or projects.

5. Save money

While you’re earning more, you can also save more! No need to spend money on your daily commute.

Just like all careers, home-based jobs also require investment. Some people think that working at home is a breeze when in reality, it can be just as challenging as your regular office jobs. Above all, what you need is patience and willingness to learn.

1. Stable internet connection

Your internet connection will greatly affect your work. Most clients prefer a wired connection since it is more reliable.

2. Good, reliable laptop or desktop

As a home-based mom, my laptop is my best friend. You don’t need the latest model, but make sure that the laptop is capable to perform accordingly depending on your tasks, i.e. writing, video editing, graphic design, etc.

3. Skills and expertise

You don’t need to be a college graduate, but you need valuable skills that will make your clients want to hire you. You can also enroll in free online courses and seminars to improve your skills.

4. Communication skills

Most off-shore clients communicate in English, so you will also need basic English knowledge to connect with them. In my case, since I work for an international news outlet, we are expected to have an excellent command of the English language.

5. Quiet workspace

Having a separate workspace will also help you set your mood into work. In my personal experience, I am more productive and focused when I work on my desk and not on the bed or couch.

6. Patience

Having all of those listed above doesn’t guarantee that you will be a successful freelancer. Remember, your success will not happen overnight! You might be rejected a couple of times, but instead of giving up, charge those to experience and learn from your mistakes.

What are the most in-demand home-based jobs?

1. Virtual assistant
