Raising children is not an easy task, and every now and then, parents can make mistakes. But there’s a thin line between being a parent who makes mistakes and a parent who just sucks at parenting. Celebrity parents have it much worse, since they are always in the public eye.
Let’s take a look at these celebrity parents who were dubbed as the ‘worst moms and dads in Hollywood.’ From simple slip-ups to straight out life-threatening parenting fails, these celebrity parents might not win the award for best mom and dad anytime soon.
1. Kris Jenner
The matriarch of the Jenner clan has been involved in several controversies throughout the years. However, perhaps the worst one was when she was accused of deliberately releasing the sex tape of her daughter, Kim Kardashian.
According to Ian Halperin, author of “Kardashian Dynasty: The Controversial Rise of America’s Royal Family,” Kim’s infamous sex footage release has been orchestrated by none other than her own mom.
2. Farrah Abraham
“Teen Mom” star Farrah Abraham also gained notoriety for her parenting fails. In one instance, she was caught on camera yelling at her daughter who was bed-ridden with an illness. Abraham called her “too stupid to get ready” for a party she’s hosting downstairs.
Let’s gloss over the fact that the television personality also had sex tapes, which were leaked to the public when she joined “Teen Mom.”
3. Alec Baldwin
In 2007, actor Alec Baldwin became the talk of the town following his nasty voice mail to his then-11-year-old daughter, Ireland saying: “You are a rude, thoughtless little pig. You don’t have the brains or the decency as a human being.”
After this voice mail was leaked to the public, the court banned Baldwin from seeing his daughter. During that time, Baldwin and Kim Basinger were in the middle of a custody battle for their daughter.
4. Britney Spears
During Britney Spears’ publicized breakdown, the singer-performer was criticized for her parenting mistakes. Her deteriorating mental health affected her ability to take care of her two kids, Sean and Preston.
In one incident, Britney endangered her son’s life by driving while Sean was sitting in her lap. She also gained flak for holding her son Jayden hostage in a bathroom.
5. Michael Jackson
The “King of Pop” might have conquered the dance floor any time, but he could sure use a few parenting advice. In 2002, the singer-performer earned criticisms after dangling his 9-month-old son Prince Michael II from a hotel balcony in Berlin. During that time, Jackson was trying to show his baby to a flock of fans and reporters outside.
Following the public concern, Jackson has since apologized for the incident. Berlin law enforcement authorities claimed that they will not press charges, but will act if any person comes forward and files a case against the singer.
